The Second Wind Community Band is based on Brisbane's North side. Established in July 1998, it now has over 80 members from a wide demographic.

The band provides live musical entertainment to a variety of events, and encourages members to develop their musical skills through rehearsals, weekend workshops, and performances. Members are committed to the continued improvement in their own playing, whilst, at the same time, assisting others and being part of the many social activities the band stages throughout the year.  

The Second Wind Band was originally established through the Adult Starters Program to improve members’ musical skills.  However, over many years, it has developed into a community focussed organisation that aims to provide musical enjoyment and entertainment to the southeast Queensland community.  

We have four established ensembles as follows:

Concert Band  - a mix of brass, wind and percussion instruments. 

Big Band  - an auditioned group consisting of brass, woodwind and rhythm section. 

Intermezzo  - a woodwind and brass ensemble. 

New Beginnings  - until players are ready to join one of the above groups.

Thursday nights at the Everton Park Bowls Club,   7 Gearside St, Everton Park

Big Band:            6:00 to 7:30 pm   

Concert Band:       7:45 to 9:30 pm        

New Beginnings:   7:30 to 8:45 pm

Thursday nights at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, 18 Halle St, Everton Park 

Intermezzo:          6.00 to 7:15 pm

Fees 

Second Wind Community Band membership fees are $50.00 per ensemble, per quarter and you may join more than one ensemble.  You are encouraged to come along and sit in for a couple of rehearsals at no charge to see whether the band is for you, whether the music is an appropriate level for you, and to make sure the rehearsal times are suitable.
