Barbara Bourke - French Horn

I joined Second Wind Community Band in April 2016 as an adult

starter on French Horn. I played the piano at school so I could read

music, but I was very happy to find a band in Brisbane where I could

start an instrument as a beginner. I was appointed Treasurer in

September 2019 and started my role as President at the beginning of

this year, 2025. I’m currently playing in two ensembles, Concert Band

and Intermezzo. I love that the four-tier structure of Second Wind

allows movement from one ensemble to the other when you’re ready,

or the choice to play in two if you want! Or three?
