Louise Goodwin has taught primary school with Education Qld since 1989. She learned the piano from the age of 7 and completed her A. Mus. A. (piano) in 1993. Louise majored in music when completing her Diploma of Teaching and subsequent Bachelor of Education. She joined the Kedron Adult Starters Band to learn the trumpet, which she loved. After 18 months, she received medical advice for a damaged larynx….if she wanted to keep singing and teaching, she had to give up trumpet, and so moved to the percussion section and the rest is history! Louise had a 15 year break from band whilst she focussed on her choral singing and then re-joined Second Wind in 2014 as a member of the Concert Band percussion section. She has played alto sax in New Beginnings and currently plays bass (keyboard) with Big Band.

She returned to Brisbane in 2020 after living in Cairns for 15 years where she taught woodwind at St Monica's College and established the school's handbells program, which still flourishes. Jennie loves conducting and guiding ensembles to achieve their music-making goals. She has a busy home studio, conducts Brisbane Bell's premier ensemble, Bellissimo, and is enjoying being music director for Second Winds' ensembles Intermezzo and New Beginnings. In her spare time, Jennie enjoys being Nana to her two grandchildren, going for long walks with her dog, and bushwalking.
