 If only the Second Wind Community Band had been around when I finished school back in 1981…I spent 4 years learning saxophone and playing in all the bands at high school - concert band, dance band, the marching band (my least favorite) and finally in Grade 12 the stage band.  At the end of school I stopped playing, as unless you were going to study music at tertiary level, there were no other options that I was aware of in Brisbane in those days.  35 years went by before I pulled my saxophone out of the closet, had it restored and started playing again.  I have since expanded the hobby into collecting and restoring mostly vintage saxophones, currently owning 8 different shapes and sizes, with plans for more one day.  Learning to play all of these will keep me occupied for the rest of my days, and joining this Band in 2019 has really motivated me to keep up my musical journey.
